Day 30 ~ Class Work November 4th

     There are many countries that have very drastic net migration rates that we looked at in class but I want to focus on the net migration rate of some of the countries that we haven't looked at. Starting with Aruba. The net migration rate in Aruba is about 8.6 migrants per 1,000 people. I think that it is lower because it is an island and there aren't as many people that come in and live there. It is a very popular place to vacation so many people enjoy staying for a short period of time.

     The next country that I want to look at is Barbados. It is another island in Central America and it has a net migration rate of about -0.3 per 1,000 people. This net migration rate is extremely low and it shows that people do not want to move there. It is also a country affected by the Zica virus so many people try to stay away from serious sickness like that.

     The next country that I want to focus on is Cyprus. Cyprus's net migration rate is about 8.3 migrants per 1,000 people. This is a high net migration rate when it is compared to the net migration rate of Barbados. the population in this country is about 1,237,088 people. This country is located in Europe and is larger in size when compared to Barbados and Aruba.

     The nest country that stuck out to me was Estonia. The net migration rate in Estonia is about -3.1 per 1,000 people. This is extremely low and shows that there is little to no pull factor from this country. The population in Estonia is about 1,244,288 people which is not high at all. It is located in Europe and is attached to the land unlike the other countries that I talked about that were islands.

     The final country that I want to look at is Slovenia. the net migration rate in Slovenia is about 1 migrant per 1,000 people. So again this country is not giving off a strong enough pull factor to increase the population and the net migration rate. Slovenia is located in Europe and is attached to l just like Estonia was. The population in Slovenia is about 2,102,126 people so it is a bit larger in population than the other four countries couldn't compare to.

now on to population pyramids.

Aruba: fall, because the population is shown to be moving down. it says right now that population is about 105,397 and in 2100 it will be about 84,011

 Barbados: same, it will stay at or close to the same number that it is currently at 

 Cyprus: rise, on the website it shows the line getting higher and higher as time goes on 

 Estonia: Fall, the graph shows us a very drawn out line that is rapidly falling throughout the next few years  

 Slovenia: Fall, it shows a decrease of the population as time goes on.

Day 55 ~ last day of the semester

     Today was our last day of human geography with Mr.schick so we decided as a class to gather one last time to watch Jeopardy. As a class we all try to figure out the answers before the contestant on the show can answer and if one of us gets the questions right we either get bragging rights or just a boost in self-confidence. I always thought it was funny when Mr.Schick took the game too seriously and decides to get a bit heated toward not getting the answer correct. Sadly, I will not have Mr. Schick next semester so I will not have anyone to randomly have a loud outburst of enthusiasm when its first Mod and everyone really is not one hundred percent awake yet. But overall I will miss Huaman Geo as a whole next semester.

Day 54 ~ Guns, Germs, and Steel Test

     Today in class we took the Guns, Germs, and Steel and I think that I did good on it and I am hoping that it will not bring my grade down. I figured out a way to take the test without getting nervous about the scantron and I think that it positively affected me. Today in class we also talked on one with Mr. Schick about our exam grades and that helped me a lot for knowing how I got the grade that I got on the exam. This also helped put my final semester grade into perspective and gave me a lot of confidence in going into the last test of the semester. I feel like with the studying of notes that I did last night and the rewriting the notes to be more organized helped me in the long run. I did not feel like I forgot anything or had trouble with any of the questions.

Day 50 ~ Guns, Germs, and steel

     Today in class we watched more of the National geographic Version of Guns, germs, and steel. Which was originally a novel by Jared Diamond who was a professor at UCLA. The parts of the video that we watched in class today centered on the main question of whether or not white people are considered more genetically superior to the rainforest natives that live in Papua New Guinea. I do not agree with the idea of whites being more generally superior over the natives and neither does Jared Diamond. He does a good job of showing how the native people's lives are very simple but they use the resources around them to build shelters and sustain a stable life. The video also shows the jobs that the men and women take part in. For example, the men in the video were usually the ones that we hunting and building shelters and the women were cutting down trees and using them to produce large amounts of food.
