Day 28 ~ TED talk

today in class we watched a TED talk and went over the different kinds of population pyramids that were shown throughout the video. But we definitely can't forget about the fifteen minutes it took Mr. Schick to figure out how to play the video and then had to figure out how to play the video with actual sound. After that long period of time, everything worked out and then we went on with the rest of the class. We continued to talk about the different types of population pyramids the pre reproducing ages and the reproducing age and the post reproduction ages.

Day 27 ~ Test Review

today in class we went over the correct answers from the test and talked about some of the questions that the rest of the class had. Then we were given two websites to look at that went over population pyramids and the growth rate and death rate in certain countries. I also found out that there is only one country in the entire world that doesn't have a man that lived to one hundred years old. We also went over a website where it showed graphs of the growth and fall of the different populations.

Day 26 ~ Another Test

Today we had another test and it was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be. The only part of the test that I am worried about is the math part because it was more confusing then just doing the math, you had to remember the different ways to calculate the different population numbers and terms. I finished the test faster than I thought I would and I was worried about not being able to have enough time to complete the section that we needed our computers for but I ended up getting it done in no time.  It's still making me worried because this test could bring my grade down to a lot lower than I want so im hoping that it is enough to bring it up. Overall I am just really hoping that this test will not end up like the last one in the sense that I think I did well and then end up completely failing. So we will see.

Day 25 ~ Test Review

Today in class we talked about all that we need to know for the test. We talked about all the essay questions and things that we would have to know ahead of time to make sure that we are prepared for the test. We need to lookup countries that have different push and pull factors that keep people in and push people out of different countries. Tonight I also have to go home and make a Quizzlet for all the terms that we need to know for the test I am going to make the Quizzlet off the words that are on the blog from the other day with all the terms on it. On top of all that online studying, I am going to write out some of the things that I need to know so that it stays in my head better. I think that this test will go well and hopefully bring my grade up.

Day 24 ~ CIA Factbook Part Two

Today in class we went over the answers on the CIA factbook questions and got the correct answers that we needed to know for the test that we have on Friday. Last night I better organized my blogs just in case we have the opportunity to use our blogs on the test. I now need to make sure that I know my way around the site because I know that we will need it for the test. This test is super important because that grade that I have in this class is the lowest grade I have and I can't afford to get a bad grade on the test.

Day 24 ~ CIA Factbook Questions

1. The population of China is 1,384,688,989 and the population of India is 1,296,834,042 people.  2. The total fertility rate in Japan is 1.42 babies per woman.  3. The death rate in El Salvador is  5.8 deaths per 1,000 people.  4. The percentage of people in France that identify as non-religious is 23-28% but the government doesn't take data on religion.   5. The percentage of Mexicans that identify as Roma Catholics is 82.7% .  6.  The US has the most technologically powerful economy in the world, with a per capita GDP of $59,800 (2017 est.)  7. There are about 1.201 billion people in the world that do not have access to electricity.  12. T

Day 23 ~ New Terms and Definitions

Today in class we talked about the crude birth rate and crude death rate in different countries. The Crude death rate in a country is the number of people that have died over a certain period of time in a country. Usually, countries that are less wealthy and have poor health care have a higher crude death rate. The countries that have good health care and positive living conditions have a lower crude death rate.  The Crude Birth rate is the number of babies that are born over a period of time in a country. Today we also found that we have a test on Friday. I feel like this is the first test that we have known about far in advance and that gives me more time to organize notes and make a Quizlet that will help me study the information that will be on the test.

Day 22 ~ Immigration and Population

Today in class we talked about immigration and the population in certain countries. Some of the main things that we talked about in class were the Crude Death rate and the total fertility rate. The crude death rate is a term given to the number of people that die over a certain amount of time in a certain country. The Total Fertility rate is the number of babies born in a country over a certain period of time. the two terms are given and show effect through the increase or decrease in a population. Some other terms that we learned were Unemployment rate, Net migration rate, and Life expectancy. the unemployment rate refers to the number of people in a country that are unable or do not have a job. net migration refers to the number of people coming into a specific country to start a new life or gain a better standard of life. Lastly, Life Expency refers to how long a certain group of people in a country are expected to live. Usually, developing countries have a lower life expectanc

Day 21 ~ Going Over the Test

Today in class we went over the test and made sure we had all the correct answers for the test. This is helpful because when the exam comes around we will have the right answers and resources when the exam comes around. This will definitely help me study and be able to correctly prepare. We also had to go over absolute and relative location because everyone struggled with it in the test. That was the one part of the test that I git mostly wrong because the questions were vague and hard to match with the correct answer. This test was pretty stressful because all the questions on the test were very general and really confused me.

Day 20 ~ Introduction to the New Chapter

Today in class we started to look over the new chapter that we will begin to learn in class starting tomorrow. I got an early start on the lesson by starting to take notes on the first powerpoint. One of the main things that the powerpoint went over was the population and the growth of the population. We also spent a good chunk of the class talking about how China tried to plan a way to control or decrease the population by telling their citizens that they can only have one baby and if they go over that one baby a family limit they will have to pay a large fine toward the government. Even if you ended up having more than just one baby you wouldn't have to pay to send them to school. Even if you pay the fine for the "extra" child you would not have to pay to give them a good education. Yesterday was sort of a chill class because it was a more individual study time so that the people that missed the test for a sport could make it up while the rest of the class got a he

Day 19 ~ Test on Maps and Cartography

Today we had a test on maps, cartography, lines of longitude, and lines of latitude. I feel like I probably could have better prepared for the test over the weekend but I looked over my notes a few times on Saturday and Sunday and when I got to the test had an overall good understanding of the material that was on the test. The test was all multiple choice so it was pretty easy but I feel like I could have done a better job of studying over the weekend. I am a bit worried that the test may bring my grade down a bit but I am going to keep doing my blogs and keeping up on all the work in this class to make sure that this test will not bring my grade down too much. Or at least not below a C. Overall I mostly feel good about what my grade will be on the test but I guess we will see.

Day 18 ~ Pop Quiz

Today in class we did nothing but take a pop quiz that I definitely failed.  It caught me very off guard and it probably will bring my grade down a bit. I personally cannot do pop quizzes because they stress me out so much that I fail them. I'm not one hundred percent sure but I don't think I have ever passed a pop quiz in my entire life. This quiz was just another failed pop quiz in the books and I know that I know the information that was on the quiz because they are in my notes and I made sure that I knew everything in my notes but no matter what I always fail pop quizzes. For the rest of the time in the class, we were given time to work on our blogs and begin to prepare for Monday's test. I didn't want to do the blog post after school because it is Friday night and I would rather hang out with friends than do my blog post so I'm happy that we were able to get it done at the end of class. This also gives me a good chunk of time to get my self and notes toget

Day 16 ~ Time Zones

Today in the beginning of class we took a test and for the remainder of the time after the test talked about the many time zones and the placement of the different timezones. The test was a little easier than I thought it would be because I prepared for there not to be a word bank on the test but I  was pleasantly surprised when I saw that there was a word bank because it relieved some of the stress that I had going into the test. The resources that Mr. Schick put up on his blog for us were very helpful for preparing for the test. Then after the Test, we talked about why or why we shouldn't have separate time zones. We got into a long discussion on why some people thought we should and why some people thought we shouldn't have separate time zones. So we had an overall busy day in class today.
